A wal-mart near my work was selling the moleskin clone meads for 7 dollars and I bought all they had which were not damaged, just three. I am now concerned the paper may not be lignin/acid free. I do not have a Ph test pen. If someone could test one of these journals, I would appreciate it!

I love the Circa series notebooks and have 5 or 6 of various sizes.

After reading about the Mead moleskines, for some reason I had to go out and take a look.

The Wal-Mart nearest to me had them in the planners section. For the pocket sized ones, they indeed had two “fashion” styles with leatherette covers in bright pink/red (?) and apple green, and two “manlier” styles with bonded leather covers in brown (which looks pretty cool) and black.

I bought the black bonded leather version, to try it out and see how it holds up, but I actually liked the feel of the leatherette much better (so, if I like this first one, my next purchase may be one of the fashion ones, who knows). I did not see grid versions of any style or size, which was kind of a disappointment… I hope they stock them in the future.

Seems decent so far; I’ve always enjoyed using Mead notebooks. This may replace my 98 cent spiral memo book

Yep, our Walmart stocks those too. They’re with the calendars/planners and they do come in several different sizes. The store I was at had them in both grid and lined versions.

On Andrew’s question, WalMart (at least mine) does stock those Mead notebooks. They are usually in the PLANNER aisle right next to all the other planners. In fact they have all kinds of sizes.
