Help A Reader Find This Sketchbook!

One of my readers needs your help! She bought this notebook at Hobby Lobby, but she’s wondering if they can be purchased anywhere else. I’ve never seen this exact brand, and my own web searching has produced no leads. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it looks similar to the Pen & Ink sketchbook I reviewed

It is called “The Art of Watercolor” and there is also “The Art of Pen & Ink” version for dry media. They are in the sketchbook section and cost something like $12 for the large size. They are the same size as the Molekskine, have the back pocket, the ribbon bookmark, the elastic closure band, and a smooth black cover which has a more rubbery feel than the Moleskine cover. They also come in a pocket version that is the same size as the small Moleskine Sketchbook.

Read more of her review here, and let us know if you can help find these!

  1. I think I’ve seen these at Hobby Lobby. They don’t have an e-commerce web site though.

  2. I have two of the “Art of Pen & Ink” sketchbooks and I love them. Unfortunately, Hobby Lobby (the only place they were sold) doesn’t carry these anymore. I plugged the barcode into an app and it turned up: “Product of C2F, Inc.” After Google searching for them, their website says they are a wholesale distributor of fine art supplies. It seems this company distributes solely for Hobby Lobby and I’ve emailed them inquiring about both “Art of” sketchbooks.

  3. UPDATE: It seems I plugged the barcode in incorrectly. I was one digit off and it gave me C2F, Inc. but the company actually distributes to Hobby Lobby. So, C2F, Inc. got back to me and doesn’t know of this sketchbook as it wasn’t theirs.

Next step, emailed Hobby Lobby customer service through their website. That got me nowhere as HL is pretty backwards with their inventory system. The lady that emailed me back said they don’t have a computer inventory system and I need to speak to a store directly and inquire there.

Called the store that’s close to me and tried to explain I’m looking for a possibly discontinued product. The barcode did me no good as I needed to have the SKU number that’s specific to Hobby Lobby. All I found out was, if it’s discontinued, it’s pretty much lost.

I think I’m actually going to pay my local store a visit and speak with a manager or someone who’s been with the company for a while that possibly remembers this product.
