Here we are with another Carnival of Pen, Pencil & Paper. It’s an interesting selection this month– I think the notebook people need to step it up a bit as far more of our submissions tend to be about pens! But there’s a great variety of pen articles that made for interesting reading, so I’m not complaining! Also, there were a few submissions that aren’t 100% on-topic as they aren’t about the pens, pencils and paper themselves, but rather the artworks created with them… but what the heck, I decided to add them under a new “artworks” category. Now, on to this month’s submissions…

Carnival of Pen, Pencil and Paper, 9th Edition

Welcome to our 9th Carnival of Pen, Pencil, and Paper, collecting the past month’s highlights from blogs about pens, notebooks, office supplies and art supplies. The iPad may be getting all the hype this week, but we’re here to celebrate pads made of paper, ink that is not e-ink, and pages that turn in actual 3D space rather than just a ripple of electrons across a screen. Don’t get me wrong– I’m not anti-technology and I love my Apple products. But for this month’s Carnival, I decided to highlight the long history of paper, pen and pencil by choosing a few Editor’s Picks that remind us that some technologies stay in use for hundreds of years, while others will be replaced by something new in no time and won’t leave such interesting stories behind.

The third edition of the Carnival of Pen, Pencil and Paper will be here before you know it, this time hosted by Office Supply Geek on Tuesday October 6th. Submissions are due by 5pm EST on Sunday October 4th.

The Carnival of Pen, Pencil and Paper is a traveling monthly collection of the best blog posts about notebooks, pens, pencils, paper products and anything else deemed relevant by the editors. More information about the carnival here and here. If you’re unfamiliar with blog carnivals, they’re a great way to build community and awareness among blogs that share similar subject matter. Bloggers and hosts can get more exposure for their posts, and readers enjoy an edited collection of posts and can discover new blogs they might not be aware of.

Submission guidelines:

Submit your post using this form no later than 5pm EST on the first Sunday of the month. Submissions must relate to the subject matter of the Carnival. One submission per blog per Carnival. All posts are included at the editor’s discretion and any considered inappropriate, off-topic, or of sub-par quality may be rejected.
