Moleskine Monday: Chapters Journals

What do you think of this new line of journals from Moleskine? The Chapters journals have a new binding style, section dividers that break each notebook into numbered chapters, and new sizes in a slimmer proportion than other Moleskine notebooks.

“Divided into chapters, the journals keep your daily lists, notes and ideas organized in style. Choose a size with different page layouts – ruled or dotted, detachable pages and checklists to keep track of your various tasks. The rich textured cover, available in 4 different colors and slim new size will fit perfectly in your hand, flexing to its curve. Tuck it into your pocket and whip it out as soon as that train of thought comes rushing in.”

  1. These look interesting, but honestly the overall quality of these notebooks has declined so much (thin paper, cover overhang, etc) from when they first came out that I don’t have an interest in any new things they come out with.

  2. Interesting idea, but the chapter headings look like they have glossy paper. Hard to write on with anything besides a marker or ballpoint?

  3. That makes, umm, let’s see, 782 unique SKUs for Moleskine? Ridiculous.
They should have simply resurrected the old 5-section notebook. Now, there was a unique and useful form factor.

  4. An antique shop in Chelsea [London] saw sales increase amazingly when they adopted a policy of ‘less stuff, better quality’.
Ten years ago I was a Moleskine fan. Then, as their quality declined I switched to other brands. Their present policy seems to be to flood the market with ‘new’ products. The all time low was surely their Postal Notebooks launched in 2012 . £5 or more for an eight page notebook with a cover that morphs into an envelope. Who were they trying to kid?! Why not just by an envelope and bung a supermarket own brand notebook inside for less than £1.
Sorry Moleskine, for me you have lost both the plot and a customer.

  5. I am not sure what kind of Moleskines you all are buying, but they work great for me. They are actually my favorite notebooks and planners, but I guess everything doesn’t work for every one.

  6. The paper isn’t always great but I can use gel pens in them pretty well. Maybe I’m just wierd for using them.
