  1. I think the text on the post is at least an excerpt of the text in the journal, but as far as assigning any meaning to it….Yeah. From the title “Prison Notebook (17)” I might assume it’s from a prisoner or prison guard of some sort. The dates look like they are February of 1944 which would mean that the allies are pushing into Italy so I would assume it’s some sort of POW camp.

The rest of the blog seems to be commentary on historical books too, so that would make some sense I guess.

Nice find though. Spent some time digging around.

  2. Greetings, as an italian i’d like to point out the text in the webpage linked has little to no correlation to the image posted: here in italy we write dates as DD/MM/YY so those pages would be about november, and the drawings are below a passage that roughly and broadly translates “i just planted potatoes”.
So it’s safe to assume this diary was before the war, detailing also his life before being imprisoned. (on a phone right now and i cannot read it well, but if you’re interested i could translate more carefully later in the evening).

  3. Fascinating. I’ll check out that PDF Fabio, thanks for sharing.

Cool family treasure and historical wartime artifact to have… and, wow, some of the writing is 100+ years old!
